Official Certificates

    The following chart highlights the class to which a student may be admitted, given the latter’s achieved certificate or diploma. Candidates are required to sit for the AUST English Entrance Exam (EEE), Mathematics Placement Exam, and other exams which may be required; accordingly, candidates may be asked to take appropriate remedial courses, dependent on their performance on these placement tests.

    Arab Government Secondary Certificate (Literary or Scientific) for non-Lebanese

    Sophomore class (Gulf), but candidates will be required to complete a minimum of 120 credit hours to qualify for a Bachelor’s degree

     

     

    French Baccalaureate

     

    Lebanese Baccalaureate Sociology & Economics (S.E.)

    Lebanese Baccalaureate Literature & Humanities (L.H.)

    Lebanese Baccalaureate General Sciences (G.S.)

    Lebanese Baccalaureate Life Sciences (L.S.)

     

     

     

    Or Equivalent

    Sophomore class 

    Candidates with Bacc. II literary Stream will not be accepted  in the Science majors (Computer and Communications Engineering , Computer Science & Health Sciences)

    Candidates with Bacc. II S.E. heading towards majors in the Faculty of Health Sciences must take “BIO 200 & CHE 200”.

    Candidates with Bacc. II G.S. heading towards majors in the Faculty of Health Sciences must take “BIO 200”.

    Candidates with Bacc. II L.S. heading towards majors in the Faculty of Health Sciences are admitted clear.

    Candidates with Bacc. II S.E. heading towards majors in the Faculty of Engineering or towards the Computer Science major in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences must take and complete a minimum of 4 credit hours of freshman level courses with a Lab component from Biology, Chemistry or Physics to be determined by their advisor.

    Candidates with Bacc. II G.S. & L.S. heading towards majors in the Faculty of Engineering or towards the Computer Science major in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences are admitted clear.

     

    International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) with 7 different subjects: 5 at Ordinary level and 2 at Advanced level (AL),

    Excluding Arabic and based on 12 years of schooling.

    IGCSE’s at Ordinary level (O level) and Advanced Supplementary (AS) do not admit to any class at any level

    Sophomore Class

    For Computer Science Major (A level Math and one from Physics or Chemistry)

    For Computer & Communications Engineering Major (A level Math and Physics)

    Other Majors (any two A level subjects  excluding languages)

     

     

    International Baccalaureate (IB) with 6 subjects (3 at standard level (SL), 3 at higher level (HL))

    Sophomore class

    For Computer Science Major(PHY OR CHEM at HL, plus MAT at SL or MAT at  HL)

    For Computer & Communications Engineering Major (PHY at HL plus  MAT at HL)

    IB Literary Stream

    Other Majors (3 HL & 3 SL including at least MAT SL)

     

    German Abitur, Italian Maturita, and CEGEP II

    Sophomore class

    Literary Streams will not be accepted in the Science majors (Computer and Communications Engineering Computer Science & Health Sciences)

     

    Technical Baccalaureate BT3

    Sophomore class

    All students who have successfully completed the BT3 official degree (IN ANY STREAM) are allowed to join the academic majors offered at AUST specified in the Decree issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

     

    Only candidates who passed the BT3 official degree in scientific tracks are allowed to join the scientific majors at AUST. These candidates must take a minimum of 4 credit hours of freshman level courses with a Lab component from Biology, Chemistry or Physics to be determined by their advisor.

     

     

     

    TS Degrees 

    Sophomore / Junior Class

    All students who have successfully completed the TS program may apply for higher education at various accredited colleges / universities within the scope of the majors specified in the Decree issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education. (a maximum of 50% of passed courses maybe transferred and the remaining 50% of the credits required for a Bachelor’s Degree must be completed at AUST).

    Candidates following programs whose completion require 5 academic years (10 semesters) e.g. Engineering must complete 70% of the credits required to earn the degree at AUST.

    AUST English Entrance Exam with a score of 540 or International TOEFL or Internet Based TOEFL (IBT)or SAT I reasoning tests / critical reading or writing or American College Testing Program (ACT) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

    International TOEFL paper based score of 550, computer based score of 213 or an IBT composite score of 72, or SAT I reasoning tests / critical reading or writing with a minimum score of 500, or American College Testing Program (ACT) with a minimum score of 20 on the English test, or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score (overall band) of 5.5 for applicants to the freshman class and 6.0 for higher classes . The candidate will be required to sit for an AUST essay test to determine the appropriate English Course / Program in which he / she will be placed.
