Math Placement Tests (MPT)

The Math Placement Test is required from all applicants according to the following criteria:

• The Math I Placement Test is required from all candidates following the Arts and Business majors, and candidates following the Information Communications Technology (ICT) major
• Math II Placement Test is required from all candidates following the Sciences majors

The syllabus of the Math Level I Placement Test (one hour) covers the following:
• Fractions & their properties
• Parallel & perpendicular lines and their properties
• First degree equations and word problems involving one or two unknowns
• Properties of multiplication and addition: commutative, associative and distributive laws
• Evaluating expressions
• Triangles: length of sides and measures of angles
• Averages and percentages
• Areas and perimeters of triangles, squares, rectangles, and trapezoids

The syllabus of the Math Level II Placement Test (two hours) covers the following:
• Polynomials: operations on polynomials (+,-,*,/), factoring & finding zeroes of polynomials
• Linear and quadratic equations: solutions and graphing
• Complex numbers
• Systems of equations and inequalities
• Exponential and Logarithmic functions
• Trigonometry: identities and equations
• Matrices (operations, determinants, and inverses)
• Functions: domains and ranges
• Sequences: geometric and algebraic
• Series
• Derivatives and applications
• Integrals: definite and indefinite integrals
• Probability, statistics, and combinations
• Areas of triangles, squares, rectangles; surface areas of three-dimensional trapezoids and spheres
• Sets and operations with sets (union, intersection, complemented)
• Conic sections

Candidates who do not obtain the minimum required scores on the Math Placement Tests will be placed in the appropriate math courses according to the following table:

Note: All Entrance Exams, English and Math, are now Computer-based

When entering the test room, candidates should carry with them the following:

3. A payment voucher
