AUST hosted an Open Day which provided over 536 prospective students from 9 schools across Lebanon with the opportunity to meet AUST faculty, look around the university, and learn about the study opportunities and new majors available.
This event presented an ideal opportunity for school students to explore the vast range of study options that AUST showcased on this day. It also gave students the chance to find out for themselves exactly what certain fields of study and new majors entail. AUST organizes such days out of its belief that the opportunity to speak to someone face-to-face about the different academic programs and what they involve is absolutely vital to making the appropriate study choices.
All faculties and departments participated in this event, which featured a wide range of activities including:
The Faculty of Health Science provided students with an opportunity to visit their labs where they extracted DNA, analyzed Aspirin, and looked for evidences on a crime scene. Students also enjoyed interacting with Robots and Computers as well as learning about Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering labs. The students’ experiences in the Faculty of Arts and Science ranged from learning about hacking and computer games through workshops organized by the Computer Science and ICT Departments to attending workshops about design organized by the Design Department that provided students also with hands-on activities allowing them to have a feel of Interior Design, Graphic Design and Fashion Design. The Communication Arts Department moreover allowed the students an opportunity to experience radiobroadcasting and recording TV news in its different labs, as well as to learn about social media and its importance in advertising nowadays. The Faculty of Business of Economics provided students with real life scenarios where they experienced marketing strategies, involved themselves in situations where Human Resource Management is needed, and studied economic and financial cases. Lunch followed with students having the opportunity to engage in solving math riddles, IQ challenges and entertaining games.
The students in the Open Day left with a feeling of satisfaction of having gained great knowledge and wonderful memories as well as a clearer understanding of university life and the different majors that AUST offers.
