On October 1, 2018, the American University of Science and Technology (AUST) opened its doors for the new academic year 2018/2019. As students have gotten used to, the fall semester begins with the traditional ‘Welcome Back’ party that lasts for two days.
Being organized by the Sports Office (S.A.O), the event mainly included the following sports shows: MMA, led by the student Yahia Al Dana; Muay-Thai, led by the team’s captain Mahmoud Ghandour; a ballroom dance by the coach Vanessa Abi Aad; and a dance by our beloved cheerleaders. The organizers also took the chance to raise awareness of Colon cancer by inviting SAID, an NGO dedicated to this purpose; Ms. Hana Nimer, one of the founders, spent both days of the event giving lectures and presenting shows on the importance of early testing. Let’s not forget about the sponsors that kept students hydrated on these two hot days: Nescafe and Redbull. Hotdog sandwiches were offered at a small kiosk in the Garden, and Nestle, another sponsor, provided us with delicious cookies.
Moreover, the Sports Office team invited students to register in clubs, teams, and activities during this fall semester at AUST. Anyone who was not there or did not know about it could still head to the Sports Office in Block M GF to check the teams and register.
